Construction of the World War 2 Memorial

    Construction of this memorial began on September in the year 2001 and was opened to the public on April 29, 2004. The designer of this honorable memorial was Friedrich St. Florian who created the design 1n 1997. This structure is made up of granite and bronze and takes up about 7.4 acres of land. It cost about $197 million to build. Most of the money however was raised by many fundraisers such as "American Legion" and "Veterans of Foreign Wars" and "Veterans of the Battle of Bulge". This memorial was dedicated on May 29, 2005b
